Our Tutors

Taught by people who have done this.

Both founders came through Chinese International School and the IB, then Columbia, Oxford and LSE. Between them, eleven years in classrooms — including three in a New York public high school’s special education department. We know the system your child is in because we came through it.

Kevin Li

Co-Founder · Director of Specialist Practice

Mathematics, Science, Economics & SAT

After Columbia University, Kevin joined Teach For America and spent three years as a special educator in the special education department of a two-thousand-student public high school in Brooklyn, New York — earning an MA in Special Education at Relay Graduate School of Education at the same time. Having come through the IB himself at Chinese International School, he also knows first-hand the system Hong Kong families are navigating.

That period shaped a straightforward belief: the barrier is usually not subject knowledge. It is the learning skills underneath — how a student holds instructions, organises work, starts when starting is hard, and recovers when something does not land. Teaching the subject without understanding those is guessing politely.

The standard every tutor works to

A small team, held to the same method

As we grow, every tutor who teaches here works to the same standard the founders set. What a family gets does not depend on which tutor they are assigned.

  • The same method, whoever teaches. Every tutor runs the same five-step session shape and writes the same note after every lesson. The approach does not change with the person.
  • Small classes, capped. One to one, or in twos and threes, and we limit how many students each tutor takes — because attention is the whole point, and attention does not scale.
  • Specialist design sits with Kevin. Our other tutors are excellent subject teachers working to a standard he sets. Specialist design is his alone; we are precise about that distinction, and we will never tell you otherwise.
  • We teach what we teach well. When a subject or level is outside what we do well, we say so and point you somewhere better, rather than take the booking.
